The story
SeventeenWhen I started my journey as an author, I was 17, with a manuscript. My mum told me: once you're done, I'll help you. One year down, she passed away. I didn't know what to do, or who to look to.
My dadMy dad wanted me in aviation. But I realised it was his dream, not mine. It took us two months to speak in that house, until we sat down and I used something I now teach people: empathy. Putting yourself in someone else's shoes and asking, how would I have wanted to be addressed? We came to an agreement. He helped me publish my first 1,000 copies.
The stageI was good at communication and storytelling, but I was not a good public speaker. I couldn't stand in front of a stage. Six years ago I learned that who you are can be built on purpose, and it took my journey to the next level.
2024 to 2026In 2024, I stood in front of 2,000+ people having never hosted anything before. Two years later, to the day, we filled Nairobi Cinema. I've hosted events in Nairobi, Tanzania and Rwanda.
You left on June 4, 2019, but your faith in me never did. From my letter to my mum, July 2026
